Whereas an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) shows the energy performance of the building, a Display Energy Certificate (DEC) shows the energy usage of a building. DECs are required by law for all public authority buildings with a total useful floor area of over 1,000m².
A Display Energy Certificate provides an Operational Rating for the building on a scale of A to G. The certificate is valid for one year. Accompanying the certificate is an Advisory Report, which provides recommendations for reducing the energy usage of the building. The Advisory Report is valid for 7 years.
The Display Energy Certificate must be displayed where it can easily be seen by visitors to the building and in no smaller than A3 format.
Please contact us if you have any questions concerning Display Energy Certificates.
