Energy Performance

Accurate, accredited energy assessments to help you comply with legislation, improve building efficiency, and reduce operating costs.

What is Energy Performance?

Energy performance measures how efficiently a building uses energy for heating, lighting, cooling, and ventilation.

In the UK, assessing energy performance is a legal requirement for selling, letting, or constructing properties. Measure the building properly and you find out where the energy is going. That tells you what to fix, what it will do to your rating, and whether you're on track for MEES.

Our Energy Performance Services

At Up Energy, we have been assessing building energy performance since its inception in 2008. Based in Exeter and operating nationwide, our accredited assessors have surveyed thousands of properties — ranging from small local businesses to highly complex industrial complexes.

    Non-Domestic & Commercial EPCs (Level 3, 4, and 5)

Commercial Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) are legally required whenever a non-domestic property is built, sold, or rented. They utilise SBEM methodology to provide a highly detailed analysis of a building’s efficiency.

    • Expertise Across All Levels: Up Energy is qualified to survey all commercial building types up to the highest complexity tier: Level 5. Whether you operate a standard retail unit or a highly technical manufacturing plant with advanced HVAC systems, we have the expertise to deliver accurate ratings.

    • MEES Strategy: We don't just hand over a certificate; we help you navigate Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards to ensure your property remains legally rentable.

    Display Energy Certificates (DECs)

Unlike standard EPCs which measure asset potential, a Display Energy Certificate (DEC) tracks the actual, recorded energy usage of a building. These are a statutory requirement for public authorities and buildings frequently visited by the public.

    • Our Portfolio: We provide trusted DEC assessments for schools, universities, hospitals, medical surgeries, and leisure centres of all scales.

    • How It Works: We conduct a comprehensive site survey in year one — delivering a tailored Recommendation Report covering your HVAC, lighting, and building fabric. For subsequent renewals, we can usually manage your compliance remotely, provided a full year of energy consumption data is available.

    Domestic EPCs

A familiar requirement when buying, selling, or letting a home. For existing housing stock, our team conducts efficient site visits using RdSAP software to calculate a precise energy rating, giving buyers or tenants clear insight into their future energy costs.
