Energy Performance

Only undertaken for self-contained dwellings, and are familiar to most of us when we sell or let a home.

When used for existing housing stock an EPC is undertaken after a site visit and then using RdSAP software produces an EPC rating for the property.

Commercial EPCs are produced using SBEM methodology — a more detailed analysis of energy efficiency than the domestic equivalent. They are required for all non-residential buildings being sold or let, including offices, retail units, industrial premises, schools and hotels.

Up Energy have been carrying out commercial EPCs since 2008. We hold Level 5 accreditation — the highest available — and have surveyed thousands of buildings of all types and sizes across the South West and beyond.

Unlike EPCs, which are based on a theoretical asset rating, DECs are calculated using a building's actual recorded energy consumption. They are a legal requirement for public buildings over 250m² and must be renewed annually for larger buildings.

Up Energy have in-house DEC assessors experienced across schools, hospitals, surgeries, leisure centres and universities. The first year DEC requires a site visit; subsequent renewals can usually be completed remotely.
